Description
Maritime Sailing ship scene print signed by Montegue Dawson of the Ariel and the Taeping, professionally set in a gold leaf frame by Habit Art Studio of Evesham.
The Taeping was a clipper ship built in 1863 by Robert Steele & Company of Greenock and owned by Captain Alexander Rodger of Cellardyke, Fife. Taeping participated in The Great Tea Race of 1866 and narrowly defeated the Ariel of Shaw Lowther & Maxton, London.
Print in pristine condition, some slight tarnishing to frame and a couple of corners becoming loose but still a solid frame, see last photos.
